Garden of Eden

  • First Mention: Gen 2:8
  • Planted by God in the east (what does the east represent?) Gen 2:8
  • Tree of Life
    • Middle of the garden (Gen 2:9)
  • Tree of knowledge of good and evil
    • Middle of the garden (Gen 2:9)
  • Four rivers:
    • Pishon which flows through Havilah (Gen 2:10)
    • Gihon which flows through Cush (Gen 2:13)
    • Tigris which runs east of Assyria (Gen 2:14)
    • Euphrates (Gen 2:14)
  • Guarded by the cherubim and seraphim after Adam and Eve exiled for eating of the tree of knowledge

Havilah (Gen 2:10-12)

  • Likely the Arabian peninsula
    • Contains mine known as the “Cradle of Gold”

Pishon River(Gen 2:10)

  • May be the Wadi Batin, a dry riverrbed in Iraq which runs to the Persian Gulf with the other three rivers.
